Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown Live 900 “Deadman Makes a Demand”

Two men who are constant professionals and carrying a mid card feud better than anyone else faced off in a great 20 minute bout on Smackdown Live. Dolph Ziggler and The Miz battled once again and another showing of excellent drama, athleticism and intensity. When you see these men complete AGAIN, you often wonder how they keep it fresh and unique each time. They did it again tonight in a great battle, with The Miz becoming a six time Intercontinental Champion. Dolph Ziggler looked like his world ended after Maryse flipped over her husband on top of him to claim the championship.

Two men who have very different paths have a newfound respect for one another, win or loss. The Miz is a constant heel, a guy who never gets cheered and loves it. Dolph Ziggler will always be the fan favorite, with his athleticism and similarities to a Heartbreak Kid. His heart was broken tonight and WWE went with the guy who really made the title something special since being on Smackdown. I am not taking any credit away from Ziggler as champion, but it just feels like The Miz has elevated the championship.

I will give another perspective or option on this feud. I would not have been disappointed if Dolph Ziggler kept the title, but a Royal Rumble feud of The Miz and AJ Styles for the World Championship was given to us. If only AJ was not a heel.

Kalisto Picks Up A Win

Oney Lorcan and Kalisto do battle on Smackdown Live to prep Kalisto for his opportunity at The Brian Kendrick at Survivor Series. Sorry, but I do not like how Kalisto could potentially win the Cruiserweight Championship. I honestly think Kendrick can retain. Just because 205 Live premiers after Smackdown does not mean that the whole division needs to be on Smackdown.

They can film the show before RAW and then have a voiceover commentary team of Mauro and Graves, which would be a perfect fit. With different lighting, ropes and theme, it can easily work. I just do not find Kalisto that entertaining anymore. Look at his path of being United States Champion to nothing to a random throw in for a Cruiserweight Championship. I would rather focus on fresh faces and new Cruiserweights than Kalisto.

Aside from working with WrestleZone, Isenberg began his career in Broadcast Journalism interning at ESPN and worked with CBS Radio for three years. He has also had the opportunity to interview some of the best athletes and performers alive, including Andrew McCutchen, Ben Roethlisberger, Chris Jericho, Billy Gunn, Karl Anderson, Matt Hardy, Steven Strasburg and others.

Currently, Josh Isenberg works for Major League Baseball in their Advanced Media Productions. He grew up in Pittsburgh and went to Point Park University, which is where Chair Shot Reality is filmed each week.

His life outside of his obsession with wrestling include being a savant for Seinfeld, NFL, NBA, MLB and many television shows. He also has an undying love for musicals, which includes many shows he was a part of in high school. Some of his favorite wrestling moments can be linked to such superstars as Edge, The Rock, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and The Great Khali.
