Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown Live “New Championships and New Feuds”

Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss reverses into a side headlock take down on Becky Lynch, but she comes back with a hammer lock and a bridge for a two count. Alexa Bliss battles back with a snap mare takedown and some kicks. She chokes her and then stomps on her head as she is on the mat.

The pace slows down with a chin lock and then an armbar. Lynch fires back with some forearm shots and then a leg lariat. She connects with her forearm into the corner. She hits a Canadian Destroyer for a two count. Becky gets Bliss in the DisArmHer and Bliss taps out. The Lass Kicker stands tall.

I liked this contest to get the ring action going on Smackdown Live. Alexa Bliss has a great look and physically appealing to the eyes. She has a small, yet strong demeanor in the ring. Becky is definitely their best woman on the roster, but I do think Bliss has a bright future. They gave her plenty of time to work in the ring, slowing the pace down when needed and let Becky carry the final minutes. A good match, one above average with the time they were given.

The Uso’s vs. The Ascension

Konnor clotheslines Jimmy for a two count. Konnor sends Jey crashing to the outside. Konnor with a flying shoulder tackle to Jimmy. Viktor goes for the pin attempt, but Jimmy kicks at the count of two. Viktor rakes the eyes and he chops Jimmy. Viktor with another knife edge chop for a two count. Viktor tags in Konnor. Konnor with a leg drop for a two count.

Konnor applies a headlock and throws Jimmy into the corner. Jimmy hits a sunset flip and whips him into the corner.  Jey gets the tag and Viktor does as well, with Jey hitting a crossbody for a two count. Jey connects with a thrust kick, Viktor is able to reverse a move into a two count. Jey sets up a splash with a Samoan Drop, but Konnor runs him over.  Jimmy super kicks Konnor and follows that up with a suicide dive to the outside. Jimmy with the Uso Splash to pickup the victory.

A basic, yet very effective match for The Uso’s. This tag team tournament can do one of two things. It can spotlight the young teams who have never been champion before or it could refresh and establish teams that have not really been utilized to their fullest as of late. With this outcome, it is hard to argue that The Uso’s should have won. The Ascension just never seem to get over with the crowd and their talent is limited in the ring. WWE goes with established over questionable for these two teams. Good match, but nothing spectacular.
