Tag teams used to be one of the foundations of professional wrestling, and throughout the years the tag team concept has been a highly debated pro wrestling topic. Throughout history, there were many teams that passed through WWE but only a few remained memorable. Here is a list of some of the greatest duos of all-time.

Best Tag Teams in WWE History

The Rock and Mankind = Rock n Sock Connection

One of the oddest couples in the entire WWE history is certainly Rock n Sock Connection. This tag team consisted of the Rock and his former greatest rival Mankind. Their animosity was well-known in the world of professional wrestling. Besides being physically different (the Rock was fit, handsome and well-groomed, while Mankind was unkempt, obese and untidy) they were also mentally different since the rock was a well-mannered, eloquent man, and Mankind was mad and unpredictable. The two, however, made a team when Rock challenged both The Undertaker and Big Show. From then on, the duo was unstoppable, and they even won World Tag Team Championship three times before separating in 2004.

Matt and Jeff Hardy = Hardy Boyz

The next on the list are the Hardy Boyz, sometimes referred to as Team Xtreme. The team consisted of brothers Matt and Jeff. They’ve won the WTT Championship 8 times during their on/off career together. What made these boys special is their hardcore approach to wrestling where they were known for their extreme behavior both on and off stage. They also appeared in various TLC matches over the years. They are considered the pioneers of using ladders in matches, but are also famous for their daring high-flying moves.

Davey Boy Smith and “Dynamite Kid” Tom Billington = The British Bulldogs

The British Bulldogs were a popular tag team considered among the best worldwide in the 80’s. The duo consisted of Davey Boy Smith, the wrestler who relied mostly on power and his cousin, Tom Billington, the so-called Dynamite Kid, whose main characteristic was speed. Starting as rivals, the two soon became a powerful tag team that combined their strongest points. They are best known for their series of outstanding matches with the Hart Foundation, which was their first feud as a team. They’ve managed to get one WTT Championship title during the time they were active.

Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley = The Dudley Boyz

Moving on, there are the famous Dudley Boyz. The team consisted of half-brothers Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley, who were mostly remembered for their hardcore wrestling style. They started performing at the Extreme Championship Wrestling, known for using hardcore elements where wrestlers can get really hurt. They’ve been active for over 17 years, almost without interruption. Their weapon of choice was a table that they used to perform the 3D finishing move.

Edge and Christian = E&C

Edge and Christian achieved great success in WWE even before they teamed up to create the famous E&C tag team. What made these two recognizable was the fact that they were both fantastic wrestlers and great comedic performers. They would often dress up in silly costumes to entertain crowds and do their five second pose routine that had them standing still in various odd positions for the fans to take photographs. Their comedic performance was quite a game-changer for the WWE and continues to be so.
