Isenberg Reacts: Impact Wrestling “Right Woman In Charge”

Control of the Knockouts Division

Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis

A ladder match for control of the division took place on Impact Wrestling and it could not have been booked smarter than it was. Maria, who is the best woman character going in TNA, escapes time and time again so she does not have to wrestle as much. She can wrestle, but TNA is booking her so well right now that everyone wants to see her get her butt whooped. Gail Kim is able to get a little bit of offense on her, but it really came down to how Maria was going to win. Maria won by getting a Kendo Stick and using it on her before climbing the ladder and gaining control.

What does control mean? Does this mean she makes matches for the women? What does this all entail? I like the idea, but I think TNA needs to go “all in” on her sooner rather than later. Make her this manipulative character that undermines everyone on the way to reigning supreme as champion. Time will tell how they book this, but I give credit for how they are protecting her in the ring, protecting her outside of the ring and making sure that we get pieces and not the entire Maria Kanellis that we know we will get.

Galloway has a Target

Drew Galloway comes out and talks about being a fighting champion, but is not medically cleared to compete. He says he wants to fight and for Lashley to finish the job. Out comes Rockstar Spud who says that Galloway could be beaten right now by him. Instead, Tyrus comes out and attacks Galloway. He hits three splashes and then a Vader Bomb with a chair on Galloway’s injured ribs. He leaves him laid out to end the segment.

I have always talked about how good Tyrus could be. He has such a unique look and a pretty solid skill set in the ring. I like how he talked about being patient, which makes me believe that his patience will run out and potentially turn on Matt Hardy en route to getting a championship feud that is more than one week. This did good for Tyrus, but also could expose some flaws in Galloway being champion. It just does not feel that the champion is really important right now. It seems more like a mid-card feud and I am not sure who is to fault.
