Isenberg Reacts: WWE Raw “Three Weeks of Consistency”

Double Main Event

After an “Ambrose Asylum” featuring Shane McMahon, Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn, Shane McMahon books two matches for WWE Payback. He also makes Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose and Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho for tonight.

Jericho and Zayn started off the night with a great match. With some stellar execution and timing, Zayn got the crowd behind him immediately. A suplex to the outside gives Jericho the upper hand until Zayn fires back with three clotheslines and a big boot. Zayn hits the blur thunder bomb and gets a two count. Chris Jericho locks in the Walls of Jericho and Zayn takes a while to break the hold.  Zayn almost goes for a dive to the outside, but Jericho moves out of the way. He hits a Tornado DDT and then throws Jericho back into the ring. Sami Zayn calls for the helluva kick but Jericho pokes him in the eye. He hits a code breaker and picks up the win.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between the two and it shows that Chris Jericho can really work with anyone. He is putting on great matches and I can’t recall a bad match from Sami Zayn so far. The loss to Zayn does not affect his feud with Owens, especially with the dirty finish from the heel. A really good match to kick off Raw helps the rest of the show keep up. Kudos to both men and for the first 30-40 minutes of Raw with everyone involved. Developing multiple storylines with a handful of talent is never a bad thing, especially with Shane McMahon really leading the way.

Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose ended Raw and they put on another really strong performance. Although the match was really solid and Ambrose needed the victory, I am still souring on Dean. I am not sure what is going on with him, but there is no need for him to have his own talk show. He is booked too PG. I hate using that, but Ambrose is a guy that needs to be unleashed. His failure at WrestleMania can be attributed to numerous things, but his fan base cheers him because they hate Roman Reigns. He was the alternative, until a better alternative came around. AJ Styles is that better alternative. When you look at Owens and Ambrose, how can you think that Dean Ambrose is at the level of Owens? He is not and I am not sure what they can do to make him as big of a star as they are trying to.
