Mark Henry (in a Texas shirt) defeated Damien Sandow (in an Oklahoma shirt)
Sandow comes out again and is a heel with the Oklahoma shirt. Sandow hits a few punches and Henry unloads with a clothesline. He hits World’s Strongest Slam for the win.
Not much to note here in terms of a cheap crowd pop. Do we really care about this type of Sandow anymore? It gets a quick laugh, but I would rather see him in actual feuds and utilize his intelligence and ring psychology that we have seen before.
Dean Ambrose defeated Alberto Del Rio
Alberto Del Rio works quickly onto Ambrose with a hip toss. Del Rio throws Ambrose into the barricade and throws him back into the ring. Del Rio gets a two count and Ambrose kicks out. Ambrose rolls him into a small package and then gets hit with a massive clothesline. Alas, Ambrose reverses and throws Del Rio into the barricade. He hits a suplex and beats him down. Del Rio sends Ambrose into the steel post. Ambrose hits a cross body and unloads with some punches. Del Rio kicks Ambrose right in his face, which looked INCREDIBLE. The match heads to break.
When we get back, Del Rio continues to work on his arm. He hits a DDT. Ambrose hits a missle dropkick and ducks a kick. Tornado DDT gets Ambrose a two count. Del Rio hits an incredible reverse suplex from the top rope and only gets a two count. The end comes when Ambrose is finally able to hit his finisher after a series of big blows.
Wow, this was a long match for “Beat The Clock,” but I enjoyed every minute of the match. Ambrose got a serious whipping tonight and it made me remember why Del Rio has a job. I wish he had an ounce of charisma or connection with the crowd. Ambrose survives the match. I was shocked to see him take a bulk of the beatings tonight, but I did not mind him overcoming the attacks and finally picking up a win. Well done.
Rusev defeated Sin Cara…on the WWE App.
Lana shows a picture of Obama with a puppy and Putin with a tiger. Lana begins to sing happy birthday to Obama in Russian. Out comes Zeb and Swagger. Colter tells her to shut up and says no wonder men drink so much vodka, because of her voice. Colter talks about what he hates hearing. He says Jack Swagger will be fighting for old glory and every American in the world. He shows pictures of Americans who are working hard every day, including a construction worker and a nurse. They finally show a picture of the men and women in uniform. Rusev ends up attacking Swagger with the Russian flag.
I cannot say enough about how intriguing this feud is to me. It has been “must see” television for me over the past month. There is nothing better right now on a weekly basis than this. Swagger is so hot right now and Rusev can afford a loss to him at SummerSlam. WWE needs to run with this as much as possible. Look for a brawl at SummerSlam and another really solid week of build. They hit the hearts of Americans during this and you have to say Zeb is second on the mic behind Heyman.
