Wrestlezone’s Top 10: John Cena’s Greatest Rivalries

#6 – The Rock

The RockThe greatest names of two eras colliding in the biggest WrestleMania main event of all time – it's not often WWE gets that lucky. From a financial perspective, it's a dream match. From a fan's perspective, it's possibly the dream match of dream matches. The only thing bigger is likely Hulk Hogan vs. Steve Austin, with both men in their primes. Lots of fans have lots of opinions about this one, but I think playing it up for a year in advance was perfect. The numbers for WrestleMania 28 seem to support my hypothesis.

The promos, the pageantry, the video packages, the live musical performances, the Florida crowd – Rock vs. John Cena transcended wrestling and became something of a must-see entertainment spectacle. Again, there are lots of different opinions about that, and of course about "Twice in a Lifetime" the next year and how it put out CM Punk's championship reign, but you're lying if you say you watched those entrances in 2012 and weren't covered in goosebumps.
