5/4 Wrestlezone Recap: Sheamus Turning Heel, New WWE Tag Team, NXT Firings, TNA Talent Suffers PPV Injury, AJ Styles is World Champ & More

5/4 Wrestlezone Recap

WWE News

sheamus-Extreme Rules is live on (some) PPV tonight, but will mainly air on the WWE Network. Unfortunately, a number of networks have chosen to drop WWE from their schedule, and it looks like WrestleMania 30 might just be the last big event WWE does on traditional PPV. That said, some of the networks have said they'll evaluate WWE's future on an event-by-event basis, so I guess if they deam a show "worthy" – a SummerSlam or WrestleMania most likely – we might see them back.

-According to reports, WWE has plans to turn Sheamus heel in the near future. Most likely the turn will come after the upcoming European tour. I'll wait until it actually happens – rumors have been circulating about a heel turn since he came back from injury this year.

-Looks like Evan Bourne and Tyson Kidd might be a teaming up to fight in the tag division. Bourne is returning to the roster soon, and Tyson has been succeeding in NXT with a recent push and a title match coming up at the end of this month.

NXT dropped five different names this week including former WWE star Mason Ryan, and Vickie Guerrero's daughter. Nobody should be surprised, as the developmental spring cleaning happens every year. This isn't even the first time Guerrero has been let go. With her mom's contract winding down, there is no obligation to keep her around. The roster is lucky more people didn't get the axe.

Speaking of NXT, rumor has it WWE issued a memo telling people to stop harassing Gerald Brisco recruits. Brisco is a big fan of amateur wrestling, and spends a great deal of time bringing shoot-style guys on to WWE's radar. If there are guys backstage who don't want that kind of worker around, maybe they should be the ones leaving.
