4/20 Wrestlezone Recap

The following are all of the major news topics coming out of the pro wrestling industy for the week of April 14th. As always, follow all the links provided for any additional news.

WWE News

nancy grace showWWE's chief brand officer and partial owner Stephanie McMahon announced this week that the company will be rolling out the brand new logo – as seen in the WWE Developmental Center and on the WWE Network – by this August.

It's almost hard to believe this is WWE related news, but Sting made his first appearance EVER with the company on the Network this week, paying tribute to his former partner and friend, the Ultimate Warrior.

The decision made to host an Intercontinental Championship tournament on Raw this past week was made by Vince McMahon, who nixed the idea of a four-way match. At first, reports came out that Christian's injury status forced the quick change, but a follow-up report indicates that Vince just wanted to feature the stars in a better spotlight. Good for him.

It looks like Mick Foley won't be signing a new WWE Legends deal any time soon. The company offered him a new contract recently, but the Hall of Famer stated in an interview that the lack of a "dangling carrot" was no longer there, as the money isn't as good as it used to be. Foley was recently listed as one of the top ten richest wrestlers on the planet, so I doubt if the issue is simply a matter of money. The hardcore legend has been all over social media all year long, both praising and criticizing the product. That said, Foley's legends deal expired earlier this year, and he has since made appearances during WrestleMania weekend, so it's not as if this is the last we'll be seeing of Mrs. Foley's baby boy.
