2/8 Wrestlezone Recap: Anonymous Letters From WWE, Emma Bombs in Raw Debut, Undertaker’s Return, WrestleMania Plans & More

The Emma-lution Derailed

wwe nxt specialNXT Diva Emma made her Monday Night Raw debut after several weeks of non-intrusive fan-spotting at ringside. In what could have been a great comedy segment, Emma bombed alongside Santino Marella, as the fans seem to be souring on Fandango and Summer Rae. The arena was deadly silent for the Emma-Summer dance competition, and fans just didn't get her weird "dance" move. The four of them put on one of the best comedy matches of all time on NXT in 2013, and it's a shame this fell through so hard.

Reports are saying that the San Diego crowd hated Emma during Saturday's WWE Live event. It certainly didn't help that she was in the ring with AJ Lee who, despite their best intentions, continues to get a babyface reaction in most cities. You can probably thank CM Punk for that. I don't think Emma is in trouble. First impressions are a big deal, but it's never too late to turn a character around. WWE should know by now that they can't necessarily take the same segments from a 100 person NXT crowd and put it before 15,000 people on Raw, and expect everyone to immediately fall in love with it. The other thing hurting them is that fans just don't care about the Divas. That's not a personal opinion, it's just the reality of the product in 2014.
