Wrestlezone Recap: Daniel Bryan to Miss the WWE Royal Rumble? American Wolves in TNA, Why Pro Wrestling is a Sexist Industry & More

American Wolves Signed by TNA

TNA President Dixie Carter answered some questions on Twitter, specifically concerning the most recent signings of Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards. Many fans were upset that The Wolves did not wrestle at this week's TNA Genesis television special on Spike TV, and will not be competing at next week's pre-tapped episode either. [Cont…]

After the debacle that was Magnus beating AJ Styles for the TNA World title, I promised never to watch Impact Wrestling until either A) the Dixie Carter character had been run off television, or B) the company brought in new top name stars to make the product better. I didn't even get a single week off before they drew me back in. Curse you, TNA.

The Wolves are a big signing. I'm glad they didn't sign with WWE. I'm sure they would have loved to, but truth is that roster is packed and there's 70+ people waiting in developmental. In TNA they will immediately be at the top of the pack. TNA shares enough of its audience with indie fans that they won't get away with booking them at the bottom of the card.

This week's Impact wasn't terrible. For a "PPV special" they spent 40% of the show talking, and 30% of the show on commercial break, but that's Impact in a nutshell these days. Much too much of the Dixie character. Again, it's nothing against her personally or professionally, I just don't think the heat she's bringing to the table is neccessary. I want to change the channel when she talks. Bully Ray got over without her. Bobby Roode got over without her. But I guess it's time for the bi-annual TNA faction wars angle! Is this honestly the only story this company knows how to tell? The big problem is this time, there may not be a major opposition to rise up. Hogan is gone. Jeff Jarrett is gone. Jeff Hardy won't be on television for the next month or more.AJ Styles is out of there. Sting might actually be leaving, finally.

Not all is lost. With all those names out of the picture, at least for the moment, it's a great excuse for TNA to finally push some new talent. Get Dixie out of there, or at least stop giving her the microphone so much. Somebody fall on their sword and tell her "this isn't best for business." Let Magnus actually do something viable as world champion. This is a great chance for the Wolves to come in strong, for Gunner to be taken seriously, and for Samoa Joe to matter again. And please, keep the new talents coming.
