AJ Styles defeated Bully Ray to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

Before we break down the match, let's talk about how the show started. Dixie Carter dresses the ring up with AJ Styles posters and signs. She welcomes him to the show and asks him to basically be on "Team Dixie." She says she was wrong and is willing to make up for it. She buys him a watch and a car, trying to bribe him to forgive her. Dixie is the heel. She needs to play that card and not the sad and pathetic boss who is begging for him to come back. Anyways, he does not accept and we will still have the world title match later in the night.

Styles and Ray have completely different techniques in the ring. Styles hits a Tornado DDT to really take control of the match. Styles tries to lift up Ray, but falls down because he weighs too much. Ray continues to attack the abdominal area of Styles, punching and kicking him right in the gut. Bully Ray, reversing multiple moves, sends Styles right into Earl Hebner and the referee is down. Styles locks in a submission move and makes Ray tap out, but the referee is still down. Bully hits Styles with a chain and a Bubba Cutter. Styles kicks out of two and out comes Anderson. He distracts Ray and Styles rolls him up for the win.

After the match, Dixie Carter tells Styles to stay in the ring. She offers him a new contract with many zeros on the end of the number. AJ declines the offer by wiping it on his backside. He says money will not buy her problems. He says he is leaving and that he is the champion for the fans. Styles walks out and drives away in the car that Dixie bought him.

Grade: B-

I do not hate the ending but I feel like it dragged on too much. This show has a strength and that is excellent wrestling. We had 33 minutes before our first match. We had two commercial breaks before our first match. We did not see in ring action from Aries, Roode, Angle, Hardy, Gunner, Storm, or any of the important pieces in TNA. THAT IS A PROBLEM.
