Paul Heyman and Curtis Axel defeated CM Punk. The match was EXACTLY what I predicted it to be. Axel and Punk battled back and forth in for most of the match. Curtis Axel was able to ground Punk and beat away at his body. Axel, in his second match, would really add another detail to his game. Since this was No Disqualification, there was no rules and Axel took advantage of it. CM Punk came out with a Kendo Stick. As the match progressed, CM Punk finally got the better of Axel. He would hit a GTS and make him tap out to the GTS. Punk turned his attention to Paul Heyman, who would be chased around the crowd before Punk finally got to him. After multiple strikes of a Kendo Stick, Punk was going for the final shot. Ryback came out from behind and drove Punk into a table. He grabbed Paul Heyman and put his body on Punk for the victory. After the match, Ryback carried Heyman out and Punk was attended to.

Anyways, this continues the feud with Punk and Heyman. Did this really SHOCK anyone? Ryback gets a mouthpiece, in time, and he will battle Punk. This is WWE’s last ditch effort in saving Ryback. If anyone can make him more interesting, it is Heyman. Axel will still be a “Paul Heyman Guy.” He can move onto an actual feud for his belt. This is something we saw a year ago, but in a completely different form. I did not love this angle, but am interested to see how they make it different. Ryback is not the most talented guy. CM Punk is. Let’s give this time to see if they can finally find something successful for Ryback.

Daniel Bryan defeated Randy Orton. This was the only championship change of the night. This was the only match that a face won. The match itself was excellent. I love watching Bryan and Orton perfect their craft. Orton hit an DDT onto the outside, which had Bryan sell perfectly. The aggression and focus from Orton shows us why it is much better for him to be a heel. Daniel Bryan had the crowd behind him the entire match. They sold this match and made it special. The kicks and the reversals from Bryan were simplistic, yet effective. The ending kept me wondering. As the first referee got knocked out, the second came in. Scott Armstrong, the original ref, came back in. Daniel Bryan connected with a running knee. The pinfall was made and a QUICK COUNT gave Bryan the victory. This will be a huge storyline on Raw. Daniel Bryan’s chase is what makes money. This is a good business idea because it will tease us time and time again until the big moment. That is what we are paying for, that one special moment. It was not last night. Buckle up for the ride. It should be intriguing.
