WrestleZone’s Top 10: Night of Champions Matches

Number 10: Michelle McCool vs. Melina at Night of Champions 2010

Melina

This may have been the last great Divas match that I can remember. I understand that you can put a handful of matches in here over this (Kane vs. Taker, Orton vs. Ziggler) but I am going to actually give credit to a Divas match for once. Michelle McCool proclaimed herself as a “co-champion” while Melina was the best Diva in the company. The title unification was the most important stipulation for a women’s match in history. The match was planned out perfectly. I had doubts about McCool previously, but this was arguably her best match in WWE. She was physical and aggressive from the very beginning. I can remember McCool hitting an inverted DDT onto the top of the barricade, a belly to belly suplex, and showing her skills throughout. Many will not remember this, but this match certainly has not been duplicated since. I bash the Divas division every week. This week, I will give credit to where credit is due. McCool and Melina put on a bout that really showcased how skilled they used to be.
