WWE SmackdownThe Undercard

Randy Orton defeated The Miz as MizTV kicked off Smackdown. He has Ziggler and Big Show in the ring before the match to talk about what happened on Raw. Triple H comes out and reminds us that what he is doing is good for business. Triple H gets in the face of Show and says he has the night off and watch the show from the announcer's table. Orton and Miz put on a pretty good match to kick things off. Orton controlled most of the match, unlike his contest on Raw against Christian. Miz finally locked in the Figure Four and tries to get the champ to tap out. As Orton fights to the ropes, Orton snaps Miz on the ropes and hits an RKO for the victory. The Shield heads into the ring to fight Miz after the match, but Daniel Bryan makes the save. I thought this was well-planned because we know Bryan will not get fired for trying to help his fellow faces out, but that is not the case vice versa.

Rob Van Dam defeated Damien Sandow in a match that I was interested to watch. It failed for me because of how quick and irrelavant it was. Sandow continues to lose and lose badly. He is not even getting a chance to put on great matches like we have seen out of him before. RVD picks up the victory with the 5 Star Frog Splash. I just want WWE to continue to build Sandow in a smart way, not this way. This is how Ziggler was used when he first won the briefcase last year. Look what that did to him as champion. They cannot make the same mistake with a fresh and interesting heel like Sandow.

The Shield defeated Dolph Ziggler in a 3-1 handicap match. This is what you would expect and have seen before. Ziggler gets beaten down pretty quickly from Rollins and Ambrose, both men attacking the lower body of Ziggler. I did like how the quick tags were made to fight off Ziggler. It makes The Shield look more cohesive and makes Ziggler look like he can work with anybody (because he can). Ziggler tries to hit ZigZag and pick up the upset, but Rollins ducks and powerbombs him into the corner. Reigns comes in and drives through the body of Ziggler with a beautiful spear. Well done on Ziggler's end to sell that move. That move works because of the guy who is getting the spear and not the other way around. This could easily get tiresome if they continue to put random faces in this type of match.

Grade: B-

The Wyatt Family defeated Tons of Funk in a boring contest. I like the Wyatt Family's concept, but it is plain as day to me that Bray Wyatt is the hands down best guy in that group. The other two guys, Harper and Rowan, are there primarily on their look and their size. They hit running splashes for the win. WWE does not give them many moves to work with and that is the smartest thing they can do. They may get better, but I have not seen much difference in the past few months from them. I will wait and see how they develop.
