Stars in Progress: Warrior Return, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler

Dolph ZigglerDolph Ziggler – One Step Down

I rarely talk about Dolph Ziggler in a negative light, but it’s about time to do just that. Not due to any fault of his own, but because I’m afraid he’s being held in the same creative light as The Miz right now.

One deserves it though; one doesn’t.

I was always a supporter of Alberto Del Rio, but even I would say he’s just about the worst choice for World Champion right now. They had their many, many chances to do right by him and they failed every single time.

They never trusted Del Rio back when it was good timing, so why are they trusting him now at the expense of another?

Ziggler has his weaknesses, but his strengths outweigh them considerably. I put him over CM Punk AND Daniel Bryan in the ring — just my opinion, and it’s not by much, so get over it. I think the star quality potential is certainly there as well.

His mic work is the only true flaw I see, and it’s not bad enough to hold him back, so long as they limit it and continue to work with him on it. It’s also another department in which I give him the slight edge over Daniel Bryan currently.

How do you go from leader of a solid, fresh group, to MITB carrier, to successfully cashing it in and being World Champion, to no contract, no girlfriend/group, and no major championship?

A concussion? Please! He was back before they had time to say the word “concussion” and they didn’t have to strip him for that. IF they didn’t want to.

Could Dolph Ziggler be the guy Shawn Michaels was referring to when he said Vince didn’t see money in the guy? I don’t care that Michaels came back with height/weight measurements of someone that doesn’t match Ziggler. I’d throw people off the scent too if I had regretted saying it.

In either case, a Ziggler/Big E. feud is a step down any way you look at it.
