Matt Striker – One Step Up

I've always looked at certain WWE releases as a much more positive situation than others. If you're a guy like Matt Striker, I would think it could be the best thing possible.

He's probably on the low end of the pay scale, not being an "active roster member" and all, so leaving WWE could likely mean MORE money. And more money for less work has to be considered a good thing, right?

He gets to take the notoriety and fame with him. Promoters will pay him too mu good money to come in, especially at first.

Plus, he's smart, with a degree. He can go teach somewhere full-time and then wrestle and make appearances on the side. Not to mention the door will likely always be open for a guy like him who will take the political "high road" in interviews and never bite the hand that fed him.

Matt Striker strikes me (pun intended) as an internet-savvy guy. Follows the dirtsheets, was probably a stooge for one or two of them, and could get over with the hardcore audience that supports them. He could be a modern-day version of Jim Ross in that regard, if he wanted to be.

There's money in it too, but he likely won't do anything with it.

I've always wondered why former wrestlers don't utilize the internet more when they leave television. Start a site, sell some products, "shoot" a little, cater to guys like me and you, USE US!

Maybe they are afraid they'll be labeled as an internet darling for the rest of their career and be banned from WWE forever? Maybe they think it's beneath them? I don't know, but very few people do it right.

The Hardy brothers do it right. Shane Helms does it right. Jim Ross does it right. Layfield — doing it right. Mick Foley, another example. Hell, Cliff Compton does it incredibly right (who?)!

Matt, if you have any questions or need advice on your wrestling career or its future, I'm available for pretty cheap. Would be happy to help you out! And, no, it doesn't include TNA in any way, shape or form.
