The ShieldThe Storylines

The Shield defeated Randy Orton and Team Hell No to kick off the wrestling part of WWE Raw. Once again, The Shield impresses. I am getting to a point where it is getting so good that I continue to want to see more. They are being used PERFECTLY right now because they are getting 2-3 segments, not overbooked, and not forced down our throats. The match was intense and exciting from the very beginning. A few things I noticed were Kane adding kicks to the stomach in his arsenal, Roman Reigns adding more physicality to see mat work (including a simple punch to the stomach that Orton sold to perfection), and Daniel Bryan being the most over guy in the WWE. He is a house of fire when he received the hot tag, hitting multiple dropkicks and clotheslines. The pace picked up immensely, and it was much needed. I will say this now and never back down from it: Daniel Bryan is the most complete performer in the WWE. He knows how to work a match, cut a promo, get the crowd behind him, work as a heel or face, and complete his matches in the cleanest way. Once again, I loved this match and every wrestling fan should. All 6 men brought their own flavor to the match and it did not harm anybody. If anything, it made the loser of the match (Bryan) more important.

Grade: A

-Chris Jericho and Paul Heyman have a contract signing for CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho for WWE Payback in Chicago, Illinois. It was your typical signing, but did not end in physicality. Chris Jericho and Paul Heyman can talk for hours and I would not get bored. The premise of the contract signing went off road for a little, but it came back when Jericho shoved the contract in his pants and left. It was a straight-forward contract signing. I am still under the impression that Axel will replace CM Punk in Chicago. His return cannot be wasted at this Pay Per View.

Grade: B

-Fandango, The Miz, and Wade Barrett continued their feud on Raw in a weird way. After Fandango would walk out on a match versus Khali, Barrett and Miz fought a quick bout. Fandango would come out to distract them both. Miz made Barrett tap out and that was the end of it. I want to see this match made official. They need to wrap this up at WWE Payback. It has not been a bad idea for these three guys, but it just seems random at times.
