Sheamus defeated Mark Henry in a Strap Match

Sheamus

We all knew what this match was going to be. The type of this match is slow, a few big moves, and then finishing off with a little surprise. Sheamus and Henry hit a few powerful moves each in the match. Henry hit a great spinebuster on the Irishman, but Sheamus was able to counter a World’s Strongest Slam with a Brogue Kick. He successfully hit all four corners and picked up the win. I was a bit surprised, but I understand. WWE is so heavy on heels that the faces have looked weak over the past few months. The World Champion needs a feud, needs an intriguing face. With this victory, Sheamus could easily slide into a match and feud with Ziggler. Tonight was not a shining moment for Henry or Sheamus, as they had little to work with and kept a slow pace. It was not their fault. (Snitsky comment)

Randy Orton defeated The Big Show in an Extreme Rules Match

Randy Orton

St. Louis welcomed home Randy Orton with an amazing pop. The Viper still gets that crowd reaction. There was no doubt in my mind that Orton would win this match. What does The Big Show need a victory for? No matter how he is booked, he is going to be booked the same way. Orton has fluttered too much over the past handful of months. The match itself was not Extreme. It featured one ladder spot, that the camera missed, and a few chair shots. I wanted to see more brawling, more fight to the outside. This would have been a great match to use the Spanish announcer’s table. The match lacked that ONE big spot. Orton ended up winning with an RKO and then a punt to the head. This is one of the small things that made Orton cool, made him a tweener. He was ruthless. Maybe he can tap back into this character. I still am unsure if he will actually turn heel. It is not necessary right now. Orton is now another heel who could face Ziggler. It was a decent match, just nothing more.
