Mt. Killamanjaro: TNA “One Night Only” X-Travaganza Review

The epic war between Samoa Joe and AJ Styles is our next “Top 10 Moments” video; Joe got the win with the rear naked choke, and hit AJ with the belt after the match.

Samoa Joe is interviewed backstage on his main event match with Austin Aries. He talks about being put in the X-Division years ago because he would do anything it took to win matches and titles. Joe tells Aries that he’ll do anything to win tonight, and that he will beat him down, and choke him out.

Robbie E comes out for the next match, and calls himself the greatest X-Division athlete of all time. He says he practically invented the X-Division, and wants to give the Impact Zone a treat by allowing them to applaud him like he so rightfully deserves.

Chavo Guerrero cuts him off and says the X-Division originated from the Cruiserweight division, of which he was a pretty good member back in the day. And the Cruiserweight division came from Lucha Libre in Mexico, of which his grandfather Gory Guerrero was a pioneer. So you could say that his family, in a way, invented the X-Division. Robbie refuses to have a match because they don’t have a referee – Joseph Park comes out as the special guest ref, and our next match is underway.

Robbie E vs. Chavo Guerrero

Taz spent a lot of the match talking about how he didn’t like Joe Park. At one point Chavo gets thrown into Park, but Guerrero ducks out of the way and Park catches Robbie E. Park drops Robbie E hard on his back, Chavo hits the Three Amigos and puts this one away with a Frog Splash.

Results: Chavo Guerrero wins via pinfall

Probably the best promo I’ve seen out of Chavo since he joined TNA, but this match didn’t do a whole lot for me. Surprisingly, I do feel like Robbie has come a long way in his short time with TNA and Impact Wrestling, and his character – while intentionally obnxious – is catchy. You know…in a way that makes you want to hate him. Solid and consistent work from both guys, but the match was pretty short and Joe Park really only served the purpose of being there; he neither took or added anything to the contest.
