Stars in Progress: Ryback/Henry, Kenny King, Legends Down

Kenny King – One Step Up

Kenny King's personality is starting to grow on me, finally. I'm curious to see how he handles the position as the new X Division champ going forward.

TNA's inability to maintain a level of excitement and credibility around the most-important and unique aspect of their show – the X Division as a whole – makes very little sense to me. No offense to RVD, but I feel his title reign will mostly be forgotten when we look back on it two years from now.

That is no way a shot at him. Fans still love him, but caring about him doesn't mean they care about the stories he's involved in. That's due mostly to an absence of creativity.

King has something going for him – and I'm not even sure what it is – but he's one of the few names I knew about and followed before he got his spot with TNA. There's no denying his in-ring ability, but I think his character has even more to offer in the long run.

Timing is everything, and while one could argue it's too soon for him to be the leader of a once-great division, I ask, "Who better?"
