Mt. Killamanjaro: 12/12/12

Chris Jericho made his triumphant return to the WWE in 2007 by strong-arming a fake Olympic torch carrier, and interrupting then-WWE Champion Randy Orton’s big celebration; a “passing of the torch”, if you will. But leading up to that moment, WWE produced weeks of crypic promos that centered around a set of numbers, and a “code” that Jericho would eventually come to “break”.

People literally slowed these videos down and picked out the most obscure details, attaching it to dozens of ridiculous speculations. Many of them were Y2J-based, but with all the passion of the WWE Universe, nothing was off the table either.

Chris Jericho would go on to have the best run of his career, and what the former World Champ fondly refers to as the best time in his pro wrestling career. After a brilliant heel turn and the (somewhat literal) destruction of the classic Y2J character, Jericho and Shawn Michaels put on one of the most personal and memorable feuds of the last decade.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t the last time the WWE Savior would make his return in cryptic form…
