What’s Bothering Me: TNA Morale, Rhodes’ Injury, Ryback’s New Streak

Cody Rhodes#2. Cody Rhodes Sidelined; Rhodes Scholars' Future

Cody Rhodes can't return quick enough – for HIS sake, primarily. Damien Sandow continues to prove in Rhodes' absence why he will be a future singles star someday. It's just that day might be sooner than expected if Cody's expected timetable for a return keeps getting delayed.

I'm not saying that Rhodes should rush his return, just to make that clear. He needs to take as much time as needed to make sure he's 100% healthy. However, Sandow's push is certainly not stalling while he's away.

Rhodes Scholars was a perfect solution for both men at the time of its creation. Sandow could establish credibility before breaking off into a singles run, and Rhodes could enter something of relevance once again. Rhodes' solo career was beginning to sag, so this pairing couldn't have happened at a better time for the former IC champ.

I was highly anticipating the time when Sandow and Rhodes finally took the titles from Kane and Daniel Bryan. They would then go on to lead the newly-reformed division for a while before eventually breaking up, working each other for a few months, and seeing what happens from there.

That could still happen, I'm sure, but the longer Rhodes remains sidelined, the more likely the chance Sandow won't need him when he does finally return. And if that happens, Rhodes will become an instant stepping stone for Sandow upon arrival. Sandow fans will love it; Rhodes fans won't. And if you're a fan of both, I guess one out of two ain't bad.
