Wrestlezone’s Top 10: Jerry Lawler Moments in Professional Wrestling

Number 10: The Attitude Era Announcing

Trish Stratus

If there was one announcer who could sell a Diva, it was Lawler. Throughout the Attitude Era, each time a Diva came out you knew that King would mention something about their puppies. His comedic relief in any instance was excellent. Jerry was able to be one of the funniest and most creative guys, even if it came off perverted more of often than not. With Divas like Trish Stratus, Lita, and Sable, Lawler was able to put a great spin on his announcing. He made these Divas even more important. Aside from the Divas and "puppies," Lawler made sure he was a really good heel announcer. He was not at the heel Michael Cole was made, but he was more balanced. Lawler was able to cheer for the bad guy, but still be admired by the fans. You can easily say that the Attitude Era announcing of Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler was simply the best tag team they could put together.
