Mt. Killamanjaro: WWE Money in the Bank Preview & Predictions

World Heavyweight Championship

Sheamus (c) vs. Alberto del Rio

I would not be surprised to see this title change hands tonight as well. There’s been big talk about del Rio getting another big push, and while I don’t have any interest in watching it all pan out, I’m also not stupid enough to believe WWE won’t do it.

That being said, keeping the belt on Sheamus might provide some consistency in a PPV known for its unpredictablity. You don’t want to overload the fans from every angle.

Prediction: Sheamus retains

World Championship Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Tyson Kidd vs. Damien Sandow vs. Tensei vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Christian vs. Sin Cara vs. Santino

Dolph ZigglerThis is going to be one hell of a crazy match. For all my complaints about the WWE Bank match, in that John Cena, Kane and Big Show are not guys you want to see climbing ladders, this could be a lot fun. My only issue is the lack of star power. At least when guys like Kofi Kingston or Shelton Benjamin were mainstays, you knew they weren’t going to win, but they were semi-established talents.

Tyson Kidd has been waiting on Superstars, unseen by the casual fan…well, forever. Sandow is good, but he’s brand new. The last time WWE pushed a guy too far, too fast it was ADR, and we all know how that turned out. Tensei is, for all intents and purposes, a flop. Christian and Santino are both current Champions that get slapped with “jobs” on Raw every week. Sin Cara is really just a ticking time bomb disguised as a lucha libre star.

The only viable main eventers in this match are Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler. No matter what happens here fans are going to be disappointed. If Rhodes wins, the ZIggler marks will make sadfaces at their streams and bitch about it on Twitter. If Ziggler wins…hell, Ziggler should win this. It’s going to be a tricky situation trying to keep him a face after a win like this, but no matter the directon they go with it, Ziggler both deserves, and needs this victory more than anybody else involved in the match. Cody Rhodes is great, but he can wait until next year.

Prediction: Dolph Ziggler

Conclusion

Money in the Bank stands for huge moments in wrestling. Whether it’s a big cash-in that changes a career, or industry-shaking moments like CM Punk walking out on the company with the WWE Championship around his waist, it’s always something big! On paper this year’s event looks miserable, but I have a great feeling that they won’t let that happen.

Rather than this PPV being in the way of Raw 1,000 I honstly believe we’ll see a lot of shifting and surprises to draw more attention to the show; at least that would be the intelligent method of buiding interest for one of the biggest moments in television history…

Make sure you following along with Wrestlezone for live results of the show as it happens, and follow me on Twitter @MikeKillam as well.

As we head towards WWE’s monumental accomplishment in Raw 1,000, I’ll be kicking off a new series on the VOW Network, in partnership with Wrestlezone.com, so be sure to stay tuned for more information on that. My first lined-up guest is none other than the current Ring of Honor Television Champion, Adam Cole.
