What’s Bothering Me: WWE MITB, Tag Teams, Too Much AJ

john cena, mitb#1. The WWE Championship MITB Match

Yes, I’m one of the many fans completely bothered by the fact John Cena is included in a MITB match. His reasoning, given during his segment on Raw last Monday with a returning Chris Jericho, was weak and somewhat contradicting in terms of typical WWE booking.

Hell, it was contradicting in terms of typical pro wrestling booking in general.

Usually, when the babyface beats the big, bad giant heel on pay per view, clean, it means they move on from one another. That seemed to be the case with Big Show and John Cena as well. Until Monday.

John Cena now feels the need to enter the MITB match because it’s the “only way” to stop Show? That’s a bit of a stretch, John, seeing as how you handled him pretty well, all by yourself, at No Way Out. I see, Big Show is still (or now) this uncontrollable, unstoppable force, despite the loss! Yes, my mockery is very apparent, but it’s honestly how I feel.

My issue isn’t the same as most others. While I do think the stipulation they added to the match is preventing another young star from using it as a stepping stone, I understand their logic. They do have two MITB matches.

I just wish they would have gone about introducing the stipulation differently. Rather than making it ONLY about John Cena and Big Show, and basically giving away the likely winner in Cena, why not put it over simply as the biggest, star-studded MITB match of all time?

Give fans a reason to believe EVERY participant in the match will have a shot at winning, rather than TWO. At least then, I’d be looking forward to it.

I didn’t focus on the WHC ladder match in this column, but no, I’m not real excited about that one either. It’s an unattractive line-up so far and even though they haven’t been announced for the match yet, I still expect Barrett or Ziggler to win it.

WWE probably feels Ziggler won’t need it now due to working multiple title matches already. Therefore, I’m changing my vote to Barrett.

On the WWE Championship side of things…I’m going with Swagger!
