Brock Lesnar: Art Imitates Life

Nick Paglino

Daniel BryanYES! YES! YES!

I’ve got to admit, Daniel Bryan has grown on me.

But it’s mostly about the catchphrase.

Bryan’s always been a good worker. His promos have improved a great deal. His “romance” with A.J. is amusing, and A.J. is great: The classic "woman as willing victim" story, in love with the wrong man.

Art imitates life.

But it’s the catchphrase that provides a hook. It’s a good reminder of how simple wrestling can be. How important small stuff is.

I like that YES! seems to be organic. That is started as legitimate exuberance and grew into something that caught on with fans. It’s reminiscent of Kurt Angle using “it’s true” as a verbal semicolon, then blossoming into something that got on a T-shirt!

I still think Bryan’s look and size hold him back a bit. But do I think he’s going to wind up overachieving at WWE?

In a word, YES.
