Title This: WWE Raw Reaction 4-9-12

WWE RawOpening Segment:

John Laurinaitis and David Otunga come out to the ring to talk about last week. Johnny says he wanted to bring legitamacy back to the WWE. Brock Lesnar is introduced as Johnny's signing. He comes out to thank him for having the intelligence to sign him. Johnny announces Lesnar vs. Cena at Extreme Rules. Lesnar is quickly interrupted by John Cena. Cena slaps Lesnar in the face and all hell breaks loose. Officials and wrestlers come out to separate them, as they break the attempt several times and attack the other. They continue to try and break through to fight one another.

What I Liked:

This felt real. I really loved this beginning, given the crowd exactly what they want in the beginning. Lesnar did not say much, but his punch to Cena's face was very much real. You could see the replay, and I think Cena wanted Lesnar to punch him in the mouth. Cena will take hits and get bloodied if it makes the overall story real. This is what happened here, as everyone watching was invested in what was going to happen between the two. I also liked how superstars of all ranks came out to separate them, making this feel very Tyson/Austin-esque. Well done to start the show off with a big bang.

Grade: A

Santino Marella and Brodus Clay def. Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger:

What I Liked:

About time we get a meaningful match for Clay. It only took 3 months, with a month of him not appearing on TV. Even though him and Santino are a comedy tag team, fans are still going to invest themselves in the characters. I still am not a huge fan of Clay's gimmick, but I do think they can find a way to keep him fresh. They have been able to do that with Santino, a guy who is more popular now than ever. The match was good, not great, with Clay gettting the clean pin on Ziggler. He did a few new moves, and we were able to see Clay get beaten down for a short period. It shows how he is able to overcome and use his defense mechanisms as a change in his offensive attacks.

What I Disliked:

I do not like Ziggler and Swagger getting the clean loss. I was shocked to see this, especially how they view both men as top wrestlers in the company. Creative decided to have the comedy trump the skill. Question of the week: Where do Dolph and Jack go from here?

Grade: C+

John Cena is backstage with Laurinaitis. He tells Johnny that he is legit and that he wants to fight tonight and pick an opponent for him. Cena looks pissed and wanting to make a statement.
