What’s NOT Bothering Me: Brodus/Santino, Lesnar, Tensai

LORD TENSAI

Let me preface by saying that I still haven’t made up my mind on the actual gimmick. It’s really too early to tell. Umaga — the gimmick — took a while to grow on me, but he eventually did. I could see a similar pattern with Lord Tensai taking place.

What I liked right away about Umaga then is the same thing I like about Tensai now. He can go in the ring. (That’s a general statement and I’m aware that Umaga and Tensai have two different styles.)

Matt Bloom has a stiff quality to his work and I like that. Always have. He’s not as mobile as Umaga was, but he doesn’t need to be.

Fans haven’t had time to adjust to the gimmick yet. Plus, he’s simply taking Brodus Clay’s place as the next man in line to squash a series of opponents consecutively upon debut. That isn’t near as effective as it used to be.

I’ll hold further judgment on the gimmick, but Matt Bloom’s return doesn’t bother me at all. I wish him luck.
