What’s NOT Bothering Me?: Rock Returns, Santino, Best Ever

#1. The Rock Returns

The RockAnyone recall the “anonymous” letter that was recently sent to a dirt sheet by a current WWE wrestler regarding the Rock?

For the sake of this column, it didn’t bother me that the wrestler reached out to a website. What he/she said didn’t bother me either, as everyone is entitled to their opinion. And in this case, it’s first-hand experience helping form that opinion. I don’t understand it, however.

The Rock “is” big time. He has successfully transitioned into a working Hollywood star. How many tried-but-failed examples of that are there? Better yet, name me the others you can actually put on that same list as the Rock.

Is the Rock back “only” to pad his wallet? I can’t confirm or deny that personally, but logic would certainly seem to indicate that he’s not. I can’t imagine he needs the money.

I believe he’s back for other reasons, including — but not limited to — missing that feeling you get from a live wrestling audience that is second to none, he has something new to work with in this Cena program, it truly is in his blood, and he STILL can.

Of course, the money doesn’t hurt.

If I’m wrong, then my other argument would be “So what!?”

The Rock on the card means more money for everyone, more exposure, hotter crowds, more buzz, etc. Who gives a sh*t whether or not he’s there for selfish reasons. The anonymous wrestler sent that anonymous email for selfish reasons. We, as people, by nature, are selfish.

The Rock, part-time, is better than the Rock, none of the time. That’s my personal opinion AND I would imagine Vince’s as well when he counts his money after WrestleMania.

I’m looking forward to this Monday. I’m looking forward to it more than usual. I attribute that to one person.

On a sidenote, Cena’s promo last week on Raw as excellent. He may not be turning heel anytime soon (ever), but this program with the Rock could/should continue to bring out a better John Cena.
