Title This: Impact Wrestling Reaction For 12/29

Wild Card Tournament: Samoa Joe and Magnus vs. ODB and Eric Young:

What I Liked:

Joe and Magnus have two different styles of fighting, but I think they really feed off of one another, especially with their chemistry with other opponents. Joe uses his power in a speed type way, while Magnus is more of a mechanical wrestler who uses every part of his body to gain advantage. I really do think this tag team will be solid for a while given the right time and not rushing them to the top. It will benefit both of them quickly.

What I Disliked:

ODB and Eric Young as a tag team is ridiculous. I get the jist of the Wild Card, but that is so far fetched and a lack of creativity. No belief they would win.

Grade: C-

Kurt Angle vs. Rob Van Dam:

What I Liked:

A solid combination of grappling, speed, and mixture of aggressive ground and pound attacking. Angle and Van Dam seem to know every which way to help one another in this match. I liked to see this pairing, as I feel they are two veterans who can still be relied on to carry a show. I loved the transition into the Ankle Lock after a missed Frog Splash. It flowed smoothly and without a glitch.

What I Disliked:

James Storm interfering was the right idea, but I did not like how it was a DQ win. I would rather see Storm be a thorn in Angle's heel, costing him matches instead of giving him victories. I wish he did more than the Last Call, but they do want to tease a more physical and personal altercation in the future.

Grade: B

Gail Kim vs. Mickie James for the Knockouts Championship:

What I Liked:

James and Kim put on one of the best female matches I have seen in quite some time. I thought the Octopus submission into a counter that led into a pinfall was flawless. I also feel that Kim deserves to be the Champion, and I love that James is seen as the veteran who anyone can lean on to put on a good match. James has a great look still, as the stronger of the two. They were given enough time to make this match feel meaningful and important. When the masked person came in and attacked James, I thought "finally, a storyline for female wrestlers with intrigue and suspense." I still stand by saying that females never sell, but at least give us interesting plots with suspense in it, instead of the typical garbage matches and recycled angles.

What I Disliked:

This match should not have ended Impact. Start off the show with the match or put it at 10pm, but not at the very end. It goes back to my point where you need to spotlight the important feuds, have Storm and Angle in this segment. Hell, why not even give something with Sting here? I know this is different, but it does not carry a show.
