What’s Bothering Me?: Styles’ Injury, Triple H/Nash, Ziggler

AJ Styles#1. TNA Selling AJ Styles' Injury

Raise your hand if you're rushing out to buy TNA's Final Resolution pay per view this Sunday! Yeah, I'm not either.

I'm still going to buy it, but when it comes to the second World Heavyweight Championship match between Bobby Roode and A.J. Styles, TNA doesn't seem to "want" me to care. Otherwise, why would they have sold Styles' injury on Thursday's edition of Impact Wrestling? Fans already know Roode will win this Sunday, but does it need to be even more obvious?

I have genuinely enjoyed the way TNA has handled Roode as Champion and James Storm as the former Champion since the change happened. Separate the two, spend time building both individually, and then have them square off in the end. It works. Fans will care more than if they had rushed into it immediately following Roode's heel turn.

Kurt Angle was an excellent choice for James Storm in the meantime. Styles is an excellent choice for Roode. However, just because you're building to Roode/Storm down the road, you should still give people a reason to care about the "now". We should assume there's at least an outside chance that Styles could beat Roode this weekend. Yet, TNA gave us the excuse for him losing before we even needed it.

Styles doesn't need a scapegoat when he loses. He knows how to lose and still get over. He's THAT good. Let him do his current job and help put over your current Champion. Styles will be fine and Roode needs the rub.

Fans need to be given every reason to invest in every Championship match Roode has right now. This week on Impact, we were given one less reason to care about this one.
