The Cashbox: Three Reasons To Turn The Miz Babyface

#3. Upcoming Feud With R-Truth

When R-Truth returns from his suspension, one can only assume he'll want revenge on the guy who "took him out", right? If Miz remains a heel, does that mean Truth turns back to a babyface? WWE seems to have made up their mind on this already by having Miz attack Truth the way he did, by continuing to push Miz as a heel in Truth's absence, and by giving Truth the "revenge" story to work with once he returns (if that is the direction they decide to go).

I never had an issue with Truth as a babyface, but I think he has achieved more success since turning heel and using the "conspiracy" gimmick. I can't imagine anyone disagreeing with that. Therefore, if you're a Truth fan and want to see him succeed, wouldn't you rather him continue using a gimmick and character that has proven to work? I fear turning Truth face again will result in WWE reducing his role to more of a Santino Marella figure that helps put the "important" people over.

What they do with Truth's character won't effect Miz's good guy/bad guy status at all if WWE doesn't want it to, but I see no scenario where Truth remains heel if he attacks and works a program with Miz when he returns. The bigger heel in the fans' eyes will force the other to turn and right now, that's Miz.

Due to how WWE has handled it thus far, it would be extremely hard to turn Miz face over a returning R-Truth. If it can't be done, I'm still for turning Miz once he finishes the program with Truth and moves on.
