What’s Bothering Me? (In Professional Wrestling)

I'm back to delivering my regular dose of negativity this week and I have plenty to dish out. Let's not waste any time.

#3. Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton

I think Randy Orton is one of the best in the business today (I know there are some that disagree, but you're wrong) and Cody Rhodes has been on a major roll lately.  In theory, this feud is excellent.  And it has been.  I don't have any problem with these two working together, but I think they've been there and done that and it's time to move on now.

My biggest issue isn't with the idea of Orton and Rhodes at all.  It's simply with Rhodes specifically and what he can NOT accomplish as the Intercontinental Champion the longer he's working with Orton.  It was just at "Hell in a Cell" that Rhodes brought back the classic IC title belt and talked about representing it with pride and honor.  It was a great segment and seemed to separate Rhodes from recent Champions almost instantly.

Now, he's working with Orton and the title is nowhere near the story.  I understand why.  Orton IS above that title and needs to be protected.  But Rhodes needs to have that same protection to a smaller degree.  He's the Champion and should be defending his title on just about every pay per view, in my opinion.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Orton/Rhodes – but I think Orton has given Rhodes all the rub he can right now.  The longer they continue, the more chance Rhodes has to go the other direction as a result.
