WZ’s “Top Ten” Returns: WWE Hell in a Cell Matches

Number 9: Undertaker/Austin vs. Kane/Mankind "Raw is War" San Antonio 1998

In the Attitude Era, there never was a more important event each week than Raw is War, as Nitro tried to continue its hold as Number one. WWF, at the time, looked for star power, and nobody was more popular than Stone Cold. His teaming with The Undertaker was diffferent, was unique, and was a perfect combination to pair against Kane and Mankind. You have two established stars working with two guys who have yet to prove themselves in the Machine. Having this type of match on Raw gave you a belief that anything could happen on cable television. It propelled matches like TLC, Ladder matches, and more championship title matches on Raw, giving it a reason why you could not miss an episode. The match was solid, featured your typical Undertaker dominance, but did showcase Kane as a real threat to Taker.
