Chris Masters: Harley Race’s WLW, Triple H Rib, & Puerto Rico

Happy New Year!!! I just came back from the gateway to the west (St Louis, MO). I worked a show for Harley Race (World League Wrestling). The show itself was actually Eldon, a very small town! Everybody knows each other type of place. Harley Race and his wife, BJ, are cool as hell. I instantly looked up to him like a father figure, and of course respected him for his legacy. He showed me his shrine of titles streaming back to the 60s. WOW.

He also had a ring with his king robe and a crown displayed above it. Cool stuff for pictures. You can see them on my myspace at

I worked as a baby face for the 1st time in 5 yrs just because of the attraction of having a former WWE wrestler. It was a triple threat tag match for the world title putting me against Daniel Cross & the former WWE contracted world champ â<80><9c>The Human Massacreâ<80> Keith Walker. I had a blast working baby & the fans in that small town were there to have fun! Cheer the babies, boo the heels. There was only about 300 people tops but packed in that venue it made for a great and energetic wrestling show.

The most fun Iâ<80><99>ve had in a while! Itâ<80><99>s pretty cool to have the people behind you for a change. Iâ<80><99>ve been playing an asshole for so long.

WLW has a great crew down there. Very polished, but what else would you expect from a school & promotion ran by king Harley.

Iâ<80><99>ve got a WWE story a lot of you may get a kick out of!! It was probably rib to happen in the ring for me. It was a house show in Louisville, KY where HHH & myself worked against Shawn Michaels & the Big Show. Now Iâ<80><99>ve worked these guys on many occasions, but for some reason when going over the match that day the Big Show was very adamant about incorporating this spot into the heat.

He wanted me to lift him for a body slam, but he wanted to land on top of me –basically a failed attempt. So, I couldnâ<80><99>t understand why it was such a priority to do such a basic spot, but he emphasized it a few times before the match. Weâ<80><99>re in the heat & he calls for the body slam & I thought okâ<80>¦letâ<80><99>s do it. Everything went as planned. I lifted him and collapsed under his weight for a 2 count.

I got up to a knee after the pin fall selling the fact that a 500lb man just fell on top of me & next thing I know HHH comes into the ring w/o a tag and starts lecturing me on not being able to lift the Big Show thou Iâ<80><99>m the Masterpiece. He begins to scold me in the ring and proceeds to walk to the Big Show and pick him up as if he was light as a feather & body slams him w/ the up most ease. Then goes back into the corner and mocks my poses. THEY GOT ME GOOD!

As the crowd reacted, all I could do was just stand there & sell the fact that I just got one of the best ribs that has ever happened to me. Lol. The whole crowd got a kick of it as I proceeded to stand there in complete disbelieve! Like I said, they got me good. I could hear the chuckles from both in the ring. We laughed about that for at least an hour after the show. It was one of my most memorable memories in the WWE ring & I never saw it coming!

So, Iâ<80><99>m off to Puerto Rico to work for Carlos Colon against his baby boy Carly. Looking forward to seeing & working with Carlito again!!! One of my all time favorite matches was against Carlito in Puerto Rico when we were both w/ WWE. Iâ<80><99>m sure this time will be no different. Look for an update on the show when I get back!
