The RAW Ladder – New Pushes and More

The RAW Ladder

By Bill Pritchard for Wrestlezone.com

John Cena never loses; he’s like the modern day Hulk Hogan who wrestles in jean shorts. His character is boring, he cuts the same exact promos week after week, and is a babyface that doesn’t care if he gets booed or cheered. His movie "The Marine" sucked too. On the other side of things, he is the face of the WWE and the kids love him like a superhero. He does all kinds of press, shows strong support for the armed forces and grants wishes to alot of sick kids. He lives for the business and doesn’t need to take a break from being burnt out in the ring. He isn’t going to bolt for another profession like other superstars have in the past. I’m not going to sit here and plead with the WWE to turn him heel or make him drop the belt to someone new. Turn him or keep him face, it doesn’t matter to me. The announcers call Cena a "controversial champion" but I just call it boring. If he is going to be shoved down our throats like he has been, he needs a character tweak, even if it is a slight one. I started this week by saying all of this because it leads into my first rung on the ladder.

Moving Down – John Cena

So I shared some thoughts on Cena, but I want to talk about why he is moving down this week. He doesn’t really bother me too much I just think he could use a little freshening up of his character. Except this week I noticed something he did on RAW that bugged me. The first instance was when Even Bourne was being attacked in the opposite corner by Edge & Sheamus. Cena was yelling and wincing in pain like he was the one being beat up and it took away from the other guys. The other thing he did was the celebration after the match was over. He raised Bourne’s hand and stood with him in the ring the whole time. Bourne just pinned a former WWE Champion and looks to be getting a bigger push sooner or later. This was Bourne’s first big WWE moment and he should have had a few seconds to soak it in himself.
