A British Point of View: Showcase of the Immortals….

A look at this Sunday’s card and a fantasy card of my own!

With less than 48 hours to go until the big event I thought I would look more in depth at the card of this year’s Wrestlemania, give my predictions and also put forward a card I would have preferred they use.

WWE Championship Match:

The Miz (c) vs. John Cena
How can we ever go against John Cena winning the title at Wrestlemania? It’s a hard call and I am seriously concerned that Cena will pick up the win this Sunday. I would rather Rock screw Cena and Miz retains but I’m not sure I see it happening… I See John Cena winning.

World Heavyweight Championship Match:

Edge (c) w/ Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio w/ Brodus Clay
A Christian heel turn seems obvious and costing Edge the title would be the easiest way to gain heat. I am predicting Alberto takes the gold, WWE have invested so much build up for him to lose at this stage.

U.S. Championship Match:
Sheamus (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
Sheamus needs to keep the title to continue his recent turnaround; if he loses then does he fall back into the shadows? I think this could be a show stealer and hope Bryan doesn’t get buried, I see Sheamus taking this one.

No Holds Barred Match:

The Undertaker vs. Triple H
I cannot see Undertaker’s streak ending even with the historic promo from RAW. Triple H has nothing to gain by winning this one but it should be an interesting contest. I’ll stick with Undertaker.

Trish Stratus, John Morrison & Snooki vs. Laycool & Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero
One of my least favorite possible Wrestlemania matches but I am looking to see how Morrison and Ziggler take the responsibility of controlling a match on the card of Wrestlemania. Snooki seems to obvious one to gain the pin fall.

Randy Orton vs. CM Punk.
Same as the Sheamus and Bryan match for the chance to steal the show. It’s had a great build up and Punk is displaying what it takes to become that great heel. I’m going to go with Punk but could quite easily see them giving the victory to Orton.

Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler. Michael Cole has Jack Swagger in his corner and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will be the special guest referee.
The match everyone is waiting to see, not for wrestling action, but for Cole to finally get his comeuppance! It’s had one of the biggest build ups from all of the matches on the cards and it should be extremely entertaining. I can’t see anything other than an easy win for Lawler.

Rey Mysterio vs. Cody Rhodes
Another match which has received a generous build up to Wrestlemania. Who would have thought 12 months ago that out of Rhodes and DiBiase we would be watching Rhodes have a match at Wrestlemania 27 without DiBiase even being on the card? I think Rhodes might get the win in this one.

8 Man Tag Team Match:
Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel vs. Santino Marella, Vladimir Kozlov, Kane and The Big Show.
A match that appears to be a bit of filler for the event. I see Kane turning his back on the team and joining The Corre with this one.

The Rock is the guest host of the event.
The X Factor of the show. What will he do? Everyone is hoping he gets physical with John Cena but I worry we will still see him celebrating with Cena by the end of the show. Here’s hoping we see him deliver Rock Bottom and we get the programme we’ve been waiting for but I guess time will tell…

So there we have it. A Wrestlemania which has a lot of stars but not in a wrestling capacity. Were expecting to see HBK, we’ll see Austin as a ref and The Rock as a host. This Wrestlemania seems to be the transition into the younger roster and it should be interesting at what they put on display.

I wouldn’t have changed much on the card but here is what I would have put forward. Also you should note that my card has only been picked from the current roster available.

WWE Championship Match:

The Miz (c) vs. John Morrison

John Cena vs. The Rock

Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship Match:

Edge (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Christian

Career vs. Streak No Holds Barred Match:

The Undertaker vs. Triple H

U.S. Championship Match:
Sheamus (c) vs. Daniel Bryan

10 Man Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match:
Kofi Kingston vs. Wade Barrett vs. Ezekiel Jackson vs. Evan Bourne vs. Justin Gabriel vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Jack Swagger vs. Ted DiBiase vs. Tyson Kidd.

Trish Stratus vs. Michelle McCool.

Number One Contenders Match:
Randy Orton vs. CM Punk.

Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lawler. Michael Cole has Jack Swagger in his corner and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will be the special guest referee.

Mask vs. Mask Match:
