Streaming Service Stan Signs Roadshow Entertainment

After officially launching Down Under on Australia Day, streaming service Stan has landed a major rights deal with Roadshow Entertainment.

Stan beat out competitors in the suddenly populated subscription video on demand (SVoD) market with an agreement with Roadshow which will provide the service with the exclusive rights to a number of the media company’s more popular titles, including The LEGO Movie, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, The Wolf of Wall Street and Edge of Tomorrow as well as The Inbetweeners 2, A Walk Among the Tombstones, John Wick, The Judge, Wolf Creek 2 and Felony.

Inside Film reports the deal will also give Stan Roadshow’s TV library, which features Utopia, the 2014 International Emmy Award winner for best drama, Australian productions Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms, Brides of Christ and Working Dog’s Frontline and The Hollowmen and kids series LazyTown, Dino Dan and Animalia.

“Roadshow had several of the biggest box office successes of 2014 and we’re thrilled to announce our partnership which brings Australia’s biggest subscription video-on-demand window film slate exclusively to Stan,” said Stan CEO Mike Sneesby.

Stan subscribers appear to be in for more exclusive titles in the future according to Sneesby, who added, “We are bidding on and buying more first-run titles that will come to the platform.”
