Brian Patrick Wade Is The Absorbing Man on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

One of Thor’s longtime adversaries is coming to “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel has announced that Brian Patrick Wade will play Carl “Crusher” Creel aka the Absorbing Man in the second season premiere of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” next month. Like his comic book counterpart, Creel will have the ability to absorb the properties of anything he touches as he takes on Coulson’s team.

Originally created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965, the Absorbing Man has primarily been a Thor villain for most of his appearances. However, the Absorbing Man has also been used a frequent foe of the Avengers and a member of the Masters of Evil. The Absorbing Man has also been romantically paired with the supervillainess Titania; which could imply that a future appearance by that character as well.

Wade recently had a recurring role on MTV’s “Teen Wolf,” in addition to guest spots on “The Mentalist,” “Arrested Development,” “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “The Glades.”

Earlier this week, Adrianne Palicki was cast in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” as Agent Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird on a potentially recurring basis. Lucy Lawless has also been signed to guest star as S.H.I.E.L.D. veteran Isabelle Hartly, with Kyle MacLachlan, Reed Diamond, Nick Blood and Henry Simmons also signed to make appearances in the second season.

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” will return to ABC on Tuesday, September 23.
