COLLECTIONS | Astrid Andersen – Spring/Summer 2016

Workout wear is taken to a whole new level with Astrid Andersen’s spring summer 2016 collection. The designer created a line that combines the beauty of Japanese culture with the new age of athletic clothing. His use of silks, lace, and bold colors defined a look that tests a man’s comfort zone.

The show embraced kimonos paired with basketball shorts, lavender sweat suits, over-sized sheer tracksuits, and lacy tees that strutted along the runway. And like any athletic brand, nearly all the clothing was logo-heavy. Unlike the Nike swoosh, Andersen used a mix of traditional Japanese floral patterns within his textiles.

His textiles used florescent colors like lime green, purple, and blue that were paired with blacks, whites, and grays. This was the major difference from the year prior that used orange, red, and blue within the collection. Topping off the whole show were the accessories that included a scarf labeled with the designer’s name.

So, if you want to be fashionable at the gym and on the street, then this collection needs to be your next purchase.
