The Razzies Smite ‘Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas’

Every once in a while, the Golden Raspberry Awards (or “Razzies”) get it right. This year, the group that takes it upon themselves to declare the worst films, filmmakers and performances of the last 365 days didn’t crucify an Adam Sandler movie or a well-known box office bomb. This year they bestowed their Worst Picture “award” to a little seen film that everyone actually seems to agree was just plain awful: Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas, a motion picture in which Kirk Cameron – as himself – takes it upon himself to fight back in the so-called “War on Christmas.”

Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas also “won” Worst Actor (for Cameron himself), Worst Screenplay and Worst Screen Combo (for Kirk Cameron as his ego, har-har). Although Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas didn’t sweep the Razzies, the awards body seemed to have such a grudge against Camerons that it even gave Cameron Diaz the Worst Actress prize, for her performances in both The Other Woman and Sex Tape.

The Razzies also got a little grinchy towards Transformers: Age of Extinction, bestowing the fourquel with Worst Director and Worst Supporting Actor for Kelsey Grammer, who also “won” for his supporting roles in Expendables 3Legends of Oz and Think Like a Man Too (a film we completely forgot he was even a part of).

Other prizes included Worst Supporting Actress, bestowed to Megan Fox for her role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (which, in all fairness, she wasn’t particularly good in) and Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel, given out to the box office disappointment Annie

On the positive side, the first-ever “Razzie Redeemer Award” given out to Ben Affleck for turning his career around after Gigli by directing the Oscar-winning Argo and starring in the critically acclaimed thriller Gone Girl.
