Soundgarden Drop ‘Storm’ Single, an Ominous Halloween Surprise

Hours after we caught their tremendous acoustic performance at Neil Young’s majestic annual Bridge School Benefit this past weekend, Soundgarden surprised the world with a new single. The track is called “Storm,” the first new song the band has released since 2012’s reunion album, King Animal. The track is reportedly a re-recorded outtake from 1986 sessions, according to a great story found in an interview with producer Jack Endino.

“The storm has weakened minds of steel,” frontman Chris Cornell wails as the song grinds on with an ominous menace, Ben Shepherd’s bass running a thick low-end line through the track.
