Arcade Fire Working on New Project With Kendrick Lamar/Flying Lotus Director

Arcade Fire and filmmaker Kahlil Joseph are reportedly teaming for a new film project surrounding the band’s music. Joseph, who recently worked with Kendrick Lamar on a short film on the rapper’s last record, reportedly screened a raw edit of the project for film students at the California Institute for the Arts.

Additionally, Pitchfork has revealed that a director of photography on the Lux artists site, Lol Crawley, lists Arcade Fire: Reflektor Tapes, reportedly created by Joseph, on his resume. A live version of “Afterlife,” from the band’s Reflektor album, is on the site and credited to Joseph. Beyond that, details are presently scant on the direction of the new project. But speculation is rising over whether the collaboration will result in a studio documentary culled from the band’s latest album sessions, or a concert documentary from their incredible run of concerts following the release of Reflektor.

Time will tell. But given Arcade Fire’s penchant for high-ambition mindblowing projects, we’re guessing this new project is gonna kick some ass.
