Coachella 2014: Hotels Going Fast, Wretchedly Expensive

If you haven’t booked your Coachella 2014 hotels already, you’re in for some hard conversations with your bank account. While tickets for both weekends of Coachella 2014 go on sale Friday, January 10th at 10am PST at Coachella.com, all hotels within a wide range of Indio, CA are either completely booked or astronomically expensive, well before the onsale. Hopefully camping is on your list of options, because baking in a tent on the polo fields of Indio looks like the only way to keep from breaking the bank this year.

Prices for lodging near Coachella have skyrocketed in recent years, with the local economy cashing in massively on the annual event, which has stretched to two weekends. But with hotel options hitting rates of $300/night minimum well before tickets go on sale, we’ve hit a breaking point of access for people looking for a cost-reasonable festival weekend.

Check out this screenshot of the lowest rates on Cheapfares.com, prior to the Coachella 2014 ticket sale:

Those looking for a package deal to save some cash won’t find many reasonable options. The Coachella hotel travel packages are outrageously expensive, laughably so to anyone not looking to spend upwards of $3000 – $5300 on lodging and tickets.

Hotels near Coachella always sell out fast, as the music world descends on the deserts of Indio for two weekends of pure performance mayhem. Over 75,000 people are expected to attend this year’s Coachella Festival, which features Outkast, Arcade Fire, Muse, Queens of The Stone Age and many more. Check out the full lineup right here.

By the way, general admission festival passes for Weekend 1 must be purchased as a shuttle combination, and layaway is no longer an option for either weekend.
