United Airlines Caps Off Worst Week Ever With Scorpions, Groping Allegations

As if the fallout from beating a man out of his seat wasn’t enough for United Airlines PR to handle, now more allegations of negligent customer service is coming out of the woodwork …. OH! And, scorpions.

The attorney representing Dr. David Dao told media Thursday they “probably” plan to sue United after he sustained a concussion, broken nose and lost teeth after he refused to be kicked off his flight simply …. because. United’s stock already took a $1.4 billion loss after the ordeal. Now, there’s even more public concern with the company.

First, with unwanted sexual advances …

The Huffington Post recently reported that a New Jersey woman named Jennifer Rafieyan claimed she was sexually harassed and groped by a visibly intoxicated man on a United flight from Phoenix to Newark in March. She said the man was so wasted he needed help to his seat and that once he was seated, he grabbed her knee, rubbed her legs, kissed her hands, rested his head on her shoulder — all before writing her a note that said “PASIONAT NITE XX.”

Although there are FAA policies in place to refuse alcohol to anyone visibly drunk on a plane, let alone actually seat them, Rafieyan said when she complained about the drunk, a flight attendant apologized, said the man had already harassed another crew member, and then. continued. to. serve. him. alcohol.

Yeap.

“She said, ‘I’m so sorry. We felt really bad putting him next to you, but there was nothing we could do. He was doing the same kind of stuff to the other flight attendant,’” Rafieyan told the Huffington Post.

Rafieyan was later given a apology from United, along with four travel vouchers worth $100. Woo-hoo.

But Thursday came another doozie when CNBC reported a man was stung by a scorpion on a United Flight this past weekend.

Reports say Richard Bell was a on a flight from Houston to Calgary when a scorpion dropped out of the overhead bin and onto the man’s head. It stung him after he shook it out onto the tray table in front of him.

The man was apparently returning from vacation in Mexico, where more scorpion stings occur than anywhere else in the world. However, it is unclear how the animal managed to make its way onboard. The man refused medical treatment.

United told CNBC the airline crew immediately consulted with a physician on the ground who provided guidance throughout the incident. The company said the man’s injuries were non-life threatening.

“Medical personnel met the aircraft after it arrived in Calgary,” United spokesman Charles Hobart told CNBC.

Of course there were great roasts on Twitter:

But those roasts almost paled in comparison to the overall beating United has received this week. Below are just a few of our favorite memes currently being blasted across the web.
