Japanese Man Shows Up For Job Interview, Gets Arrested After He Steals Company President’s Wallet

I believe it was the great George Costanza who said, “Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? I tell you, I gotta plead ignorance on this thing because if anyone had said anything to me at all when I first started here that that sort of thing was frowned upon, you know, ‘cause I’ve worked in a lot of offices and I tell you people do that all the time.”

Whether or not Shogo Takeda utilizes that same defense remains to be seen. Because while this dude turned his resume into a box of doughnuts, and this guy had the perfect interview, the same can’t be said for Takeda.

According to The Japan Times, the 24-year-old Yokohama man was arrested last week after he showed up for a job interview at an elevator maintenance company and then stole the company president’s wallet.

Takeda owned up to taking the wallet after police caught up with him just a few days later.

But just how were authorities able to nab him so quickly? You guessed it: Takeda had his current contact information, including his cellphone number and address, on the resume he submitted to the company before the interview.

The president told police he had his wallet that contained roughly $450 in his bag, and the only other person in the office at the time of the interview was Takeda. The president of the company told authorities he had only left the room during the interview for a brief period, but it would have been plenty of time for Takeda to get his mitts on it.

Takeda allegedly did not contact the company after the interview to see if he got the job, but I think it’s safe to say he can begin submitting his resume to other elevator maintenance companies.
