NYIAS 2016: BMW 7 Series Chauffeurs ‘World Luxury Car of the Year’ Award

There are few luxury cars on the market with the mix of technology and comfort found in the 2016 BMW 7 Series. There are even fewer cars that can serve so effectively as both an aspirational daily drive and chauffeured ride.

Already in such lonely company, the 2016 BMW 7 Series now stands alone at NYIAS 2016 as the World Luxury Car of the Year.

BMW redesigned the 7 Series for 2016, building in a suite of new comfort, infotainment and performance technologies and forging the company’s halo car. The idea was to create the finest car the company could build at the top of its line with its most advance tech — before gradually introducing that same tech to the rest of the BMW line. It’s a truckle down theory of car building.

There’s little point in questioning the success of that plan as Munich’s main automaker makes off with World Luxury Car of the Year.

This isn’t BMW’s first barbecue when it comes to World Car of the Year honors. Their cars took awards home previously in the World Green Car honors title the last two years in a row. In 2006, the BMW 3-Series was World Car of the Year. Finally, 2014, saw the BMW i3 take home World Car Design of the Year.
