New iPad Pro Users Report That the Tablet Freezes While Charging

Some early iPad Pro adopters are expressing their dissatisfaction with their new device on Apple’s forums, with one particular bug being placed under the microscope by its new owners.

According to users on the Apple Support and MacRumors forums, one peculiar issue with the tablet sees it freezing after being put on charge. According to MacRumors member BizzaroClark, he has been forced to perform a hard reset on the device multiple times since purchasing it due to the problem.

“At least twice I have left my iPad Pro plugged in, once over night, and once during work,” BizzaroClark wrote, adding: “When I returned to my iPad it appeared frozen. Black screen, screen will not wake. I had to do a hard reset twice to get the thing to work again. After the hard reset the battery was 100%.”

A comment on the Apple Support forum reads: “I’m having the same problem. I’ve charged my new iPad Pro twice and both times it required a hard reset to get it working. Very frustrating.” Another user echoed this complaint, adding: “I have the exact same issue. When I connect my iPad Pro to the charger for more than an hour, it goes dead. It takes multiple hard resets to bring it back to life.”

It’s uncertain whether or not this is a hardware or software issue that is causing these problems, with some users also reporting a similar bug with the iPhone 6 product line, including the iPhone 6s. If this is a fault with the software, then Apple can release an update offering a more practical solution than the user having to frequently hard reset. However, if this is an issue with hardware, that would mean that a batch of iPad Pro units were blighted by the same problem, and Apple will continue to face customers experiencing these problems until the faulty batch is no longer on store shelves.

Hopefully this isn’t the case, though, and that it is an issue that Apple can eventually solve with an iOS update so everyone can go back to enjoying their new tablets.
