Huge Sales as Amazon Prime Day Plans to be “Bigger Than Black Friday”

Amazon is promising huge deals for its Amazon Prime members with the company’s first every Prime Day, with 24 hours of sales that the online retailer has claimed will offer more great deals than Black Friday.

Users are required to have a Prime membership in order to take part in the sales, which will cost them a $99 annual fee. Current sales include up to 40% off Kindle products, with the Fire HD7 reduced to $79 from $139, up to 70% off a wide array of electronics and video games, and lightning deals that see some products being sold for less than 80% of their initial price.

You can check out the Prime Day deals, along with taking a look at the upcoming offers throughout the day, right here. The sale event is open to Amazon Prime members in the US, UK, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France and Canada, so if you’ve been on the fence about getting a Prime membership up until now, today’s definitely the day to make the jump.

While the $99 fee may initially seem a little steep, considering that it offers priority shipping (most items on the site boast one-day delivery for Prime users) and offers access to the company’s Amazon Instant Video streaming service, for those who do a lot of online shopping it’s a great investment. The introduction of a dedicated sale day, and one that hopes to compete with Black Friday no less, is also a great incentive for users to sign themselves up.

It remains to be seen whether Amazon Prime Day will pull in the numbers of Black Friday, but considering that many items are already out of stock only a couple of hours into the event, it looks like many people will be taking advantage of the deals it has to offer.
